Just a quick summary of the CARA Technical Conference 2020 now that we have had a chance to take a minute to catch up.
The Conference, which of course was hosted on Zoom, was a great success. There is lots of positive feedback, and many people have expressed an interest in seeing more of it.
Well here are the numbers: We had 88 registrants for the event in the Event Calendar, with 74 attending on Zoom.
In preparing for the event we tested saving presentations and found that we could exceed the space limits on the Zoom storage so we decided at the last minute to stream the presentations to Youtube so that we had a plan "B" in case the Zoom storage failed.
Unexpectedly, we had a pretty large response to the streaming video once it was posted to Facebook and Twitter.
According to the status, we had ~20 people watching directly as as result of us posting it on our website, but we also had 95 impressions from our Facebook posting and 520 Impressions from Twitter.
I am not sure if that is how many people were actually watching, but it is nice to know that we were noticed.
We even saw that there were people watching from one the UK Amateur Societies as well.
We also sent out a Survey Monkey poll to see if there is any additional feedback, especially from people who either did not or could not attend the event. This was sent to the registrants only, but any constructive feedback is appreciated. We particularly would like to know how to make it better, although I should be careful and make sure that we have enough volunteers and resource to do another one.
In summary, Dana and I are editing the presentations so that we can post them for the consumption of anyone who could not attend or for future reference. We will post the links when they become available.
