Radio Operations at Rallysport Events '101'

I keep getting good feedback on this item, so let's keep doing it!

To ensure that our radio operators are comfortable with common rally terminology, I ask that everyone take a few minutes to review the '101' document, linked below.

This '101' document is intended to provide rally radio operators with a foundational understanding of what happens at a rally, who is involved, and where to find more information. Key terms are explained, roles are described, other references are listed, and some important practices are presented. Much of this material has been extracted from the pre-op briefing slides, so this helps to make our briefings briefer!

Please take the time to download a copy (link below) and read it prior to the pre-op briefing (date to be announced). While this guide is oriented at people who have had little exposure to rally events, experienced operators may also benefit from a refresher. In any case, the briefing will assume that everyone is fully familiar with the contents of this guide. While specific questions about the '101' material will be addressed, we will not be presenting these basics during the pre-op briefings.

    Packing and Preparation Guide

As always, here is the packing and preparation guide for radio operators planning to be part of the Kananaskis Rally. Be sure to download a copy and review it so that you have your kit ready to go for the event.

Keep checking this forum regularly. As the event approaches, there will be other materials and information posted here that you'll want to review.

    Date Correction!

There was some confusion about the date of the rally, so please review this carefully to ensure that you have the most current information. The Rallywest website is incorrect (as of the date of this posting) and disagrees with information available on Facebook. I checked with the organizers today, and have been told that the correct date for the Kananaskis Rally is:

    Sunday 27 October 2019

Be sure to check your calendar, as October is turning out to be a busy month for our club this year!

Kananaskis Rally - Save the Date!!!

I hope that everyone is enjoying the summer weather. Seeing how cool and wet the season has been this year, I hope we get a few weeks of warmth before those chilling autumn winds return!

Since we're on the subject of autumn, here's a heads-up for your calendars:

The Kananaskis Rally is planned for Sunday, 03 November. As far as I know, we'll be back in the Jumping Pound / Powderface area of Kananaskis Country, West of Calgary. Details will be posted in this forum as information comes available. For now, mark the rally date in your calendar and we'll see everyone in September.
