Greetings. 'tis the season to be merry, and this year needs to be no different. However, since I didn't think of this soon enough I am holding this event in January when things slow down.
I've been a 'member' of the Order of Good Cheer for quite a few years now, so why not include the amateur radio community?
The Order of Good Cheer, was originally a French Colonial Order founded by suggestion of Samuel de Champlain upon arrival in New France, present day Canada. The Order of Good Cheer, was founded at Port-Royal, Nova Scotia and was originally chartered under the Royal auspices of the Baron de Poutrincourt and Pierre Dugua, Sieur de Mons.
Along with President Stephane, we have chosen the date of 2020 January 18, Saturday, at 5:30 for a dinner at a local restaurant, the China Rose, at 228 - 28 Street SE They have an excellent buffet there, which I'm sure many of us have partaken of in the past.
We are all "going Dutch" which means we all pay our own bill. There is no cost to CARA for this, other than, rumour has it, a door prize of a free membership "renewal" to CARA for the upcoming year.
Cost is $21.99 for adults, $11.00 for 5-12 years, and $3.00 for 2-4 year olds. Plus 18% service charge and 5% GST. For an adult, that gets you out the door for $27.25, all in, plus any drinks and extras you might enjoy.
Bring your whole family. Bring a friend from another amateur radio association. Heck, members of other amateur radio clubs can just come on their own, if they want.
I've got their private 'Big room" reserved which holds up to seventy. But, please RSVP to ME at VA6RPL@techworld.ca , at your earliest convenience, so they will hold this big room for us.
Since we have a private room, Stephane and I may try to make up a program, of merriment, laughter, tall tales, and roasting. Let me know if you have suggestions for the social program. This is NOT a business meeting. This is a social gathering to celebrate the good things we hams have going for us.
See you there! 73 :-D
