If you want to get more out of your mobile rig on 2M sign up for the Kananaskis Rally Oct 28th. You will hear how 2M is used to run an event and the net traffic is very dynamic. Plan B is to monitor RYC on the day of the rally as that is the primary frequency used for the rally assuming it reaches the far south stages.

Perhaps you would enjoy listening to the Air craft frequencies? I'm not sure where you are located. Radioreference.com has all the information on frequencies that might have interesting activity for you? More specifically:

In addition you might like to connect to various Alberta locations using the SARALink system. Their site is:

You could connect to various drop points and call farther afield than local repeaters reach.

Good evening all

I am writing tonight to ask the groups opinion on how to get the most out of 2 metres. I have two ftm100dr, one in the house and one mobile. I monitor all of the local repeaters and enjoy doing that. I also listen and partake in some local nets.

However, when I have some free time, I would like to sit at the radio and do some more operating than just rotating the dial and wait for to hear something.

Any ideas abut how to utilize my rigs to their full potential?
