VE6CCL - Rob, VA6DJH - Dana will be at VE6AO Friday (18 Sept) starting 09:00. Anybody else who'd like to drop in is welcome.
Plan is to install an EA4TX ARS-USB rotator controller interface for the 48ft tower (East station).
Since this new interface communicates by UART over USB, remote rotator control will be established/restored.
In previous work, we were able to restore local rotor control with the manual controller by disconnecting the old remote interface.
On the old remote interface - some relays were being held energized. This was energizing the brake solenoid and appeared to be demanding, unrelentingly, that the rotator move to the right. Looks like the limit switch saved us some headaches.
If we're lucky, this was also the cause of a blown fuse found on 2 September.
If not - then there will (eventually) be more work to do on that.
