For once, we have an opportunity to unite all Canadian ham radio operators—from St. John’s, Newfoundland, to Vancouver—with a common goal: preserving two historic Marconi towers to inspire future innovation. These towers are a powerful symbol of how far we've come in the world of radio and communication. They stand as a reminder of past achievements and a source of inspiration for future engineers, hobbyists, and technologists.
The Battle Harbour National Historic Trust is home to two of the last paired Marconi towers in North America. They are currently in the running for a $50,000 prize to restore them—and they need our help.
They are not asking for money, only for one vote a day. If RAC could post a message on the main page and send out an email encouraging members to support this initiative, it would go a long way. In return, Battle Harbour is committed to becoming a ham-friendly site, with plans to use the restored towers for future ham radio projects and travel destinations for DXpeditions.
Voting is open until April 17th, and it only takes a moment each day to cast your vote.
I’ve also started a thread on QRZ’s main page and posted across Facebook and other social media platforms to spread the word.

Subject: Saving the last paired Marconi Towers
Hello Marconi Society,
The Battle Harbour National Historic Trust has two of the last paired Marconi Towers to be found anywhere. We are currently in a competition to win $50K to have funds to fix them up and make sure they stand for another 100 years.

The iconic Battle Harbour Marconi Towers, are a symbol of Labrador's connection to the world!
Originally built in 1906 and rebuilt in 1931, this Marconi station transmitted groundbreaking messages, including Admiral Peary's North Pole expedition in 1909. With your vote, we can protect them for future generations
You can vote daily up to April 17. So, there are 11 days still to vote and we are currently 5400 votes behind the leader. We thought we would show how serious the restoration needed on the towers is. This descaling at the base is part of what is NECESSARY to keep the Battle Harbour Marconi Towers standing. Please vote today and every day for the next 11 to help us win the $50K necessary to ensure the Marconi Towers remain standing.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. We would appreciate it if you would share the vote link with your members to get our votes up to win the competition.
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Peter
