Quick question..  Should lightning/surge protectors be used in mobile installations?

I know in base installs, absolutely, I've already lost gear from a 'near strike'...

For mobile, I am thinking no, it isn't needed because there is no real ground, vehicles generally are not affected by lightning..

Just wanting to confirm best-practices.
