    Updated Map

There were some minor errors and updates that needed to be addressed in the previous version of the map. Here is an update that should provide better information.

    Radio Configuration Guide

Here is the information that radio operators need to get equipment ready for the rally. The document also includes some operating guidance such as how to avoid inadvertently jamming a channel during the rally. Please review this material as part of preparing for the event.

    Recce Help on Saturday

Some radio operators have expressed interest in going out to Kananaskis to help with setup and Recce on Saturday, 27 October (the day before the event). If you're interested in helping with this, please contact the volunteer coordinator:

    Cassandra Theunisson
    cscc.volunteer@gmail.com

If you do go out to help with setup on the Saturday, I still hope to see you on the Sunday for the main event!

    Equipment Loans

Rob, VE6CCL, has graciously offered to help with arrangements for equipment loans for the rally. If you're in need of temporary installation equipment for the rally, such as a mobile radio with a mag-mount antenna, please get in touch with Rob and let him know what you need. Also, if you have equipment that you are willing to lend to another ham for the event, please let Rob know. Please contact Rob via: inventory@caraham.org

    Registration Request

There are a few people who have indicated to me that they plan to be helping with the rally but have not yet signed up on the Rallywest site. I would request that everyone who intends to be a radio operator of any kind for this event take a few minutes to complete the registration so that we have all of the important information for your safety and the effective operation of the rally.  Registration instructions can be found in an earlier post in this forum topic.

    Thanks so much!

Great info Garry.  This is a first you can use street view to see the actual stage locations as the Google car has run Powderface.  Just drag the little dude and drop him at your location and there you are a nice view of what that location looks like.

    Map

Here is a *preliminary* version of the map for this year's rally. Please note that this is still subject to change, so please check back in this forum for updates as we get closer to the event. However, this should be a pretty good starting point.

    Request from Alberta Conservation Officials

As some of you may know, there were concerns raised at last year's Kananaskis Rally regarding vehicle parking. Alberta Conservation officials have requested that we be mindful this year of keeping vehicles on gravel covered areas and off of the grass, as much as possible. Field radio operators, such as blockers and control point operators, do need to ensure that their vehicles are far enough away from the road to be safe from passing rally cars. Nonetheless, please balance that need with the request from Conservation officials to avoid driving off of the provided surface.

    Thanks,

    Garry, VE6GDS
