Participation Cost Reimbursement
We just got the official statement from the CARA executive regarding cost reimbursement for rally radio operators. Check out the following excerpts from that email:
"Rally organizers provide shared accommodation and some meals for radio operator volunteers to offset some of their accommodation expenditures."
-- Check out the Rallywest website (www.rallywest.com) for details on this part. It comes down to this: shared accommodation at Invermere is made available to rally volunteers. We're back at the Copper Point resort this year, and it's a very nice place. There is also a banquet to which volunteers are invited, and a sandwich truck usually makes the rounds on the course with lunch during the rally. Combined, this accounts for a significant offset to the costs. But, wait - there's more!
"In recognition of the fuel costs to participate, CARA offers a reimbursement for this event @ a rate of $.20 per km to a limit of 500 kilometres travelled. This is available to the first 24 volunteers signed up and subsequently participating in the event. Receipts are not needed, just make note of odometer readings at the beginning and end of the trip on the application for reimbursement."
-- This is great news! If you're gentle on the right-hand pedal, this amount can go a long way toward offsetting the cost of fuel to participate in this event.
So, if you've been waiting to hear about this aspect of the event, wait no longer! Go to the Rallywest website today and get signed up for this fun field event!
