Hi to all,
The ASSC HAB project is ready for release and recovery tomorrow morning. It would be great if you could join us to get it in the air and then chase and recover it. If you can only join us for the launch, that is great as well.
If you are able to join us, we will meet at the north side Time Hortons, next to the Canadian Tire, around 7:00 am with a 7:15 departure for Carbon, Alberta. It is about a 50-60 minute drive.
As mentioned previously, I am unable to take anyone with me as I have a full truck already. You will need to have a ride or arrange carpooling. All family members are welcome to join us.
The flight predictions have the balloon traveling north and east and flying for an estimated 2.5 hours. It is expected to land east of Coronation, Alberta, approximately 115 km from Carbon. If all goes well (cross your fingers!), we should launch by 9 am and have it recovered by 11:30-12:00 noon.
BRING: snacks and water, maybe even rubber boots in case it lands near water. If you have binoculars, they help as well.
If the weather turns overnight, we will cancel by 6:00 am- I will send out an e-mail ONLY IF WE CANCEL. If you don’t hear from me, we are good to go.
If you are at home but are unable to join us, you can follow the flight on www.aprs.fi In the upper right hand corner in the “Track Callsign” section, enter either VE6JBJ-12 or VE6JBJ-13 and then set the “Show Last” section below it to 3 hours. By clicking on one of the dots along its route, you will see how high the balloon is at that point and how fast it is going.
If you have any questions, please send me a message.
