    That’s a wrap!  End of day at the CARA 2024 Winter Field Day for Amateur Radio Operators.  300 contacts made around the world!  
    Many thanks to all those who helped with setting up and packing up the comm trailer.  
    Many thanks to Neeroo Sharma-Hall VE6NRO for organizing and overseeing the calling in the comm trailer.

    CARA’s 2024 Winter Field Day at the Edgemont Community Association parking lot is off to a running start!  The weather is fantastic, the company of our fellow amateur radio amateurs is the best, and the frequency bands are coming in loud and clear.  What a great day!

    ********** WFD CHANGE OF SCHEDULE **********

    WFD will operate this Saturday, January 27 only , and not over the weekend.

    Comms Trailer will arrive on site by 9am, Saturday.  Operating Roster attached. Site will be closed down and Comms Trailer towed away Saturday evening.

    Weather looks amazing, drop by and check it out!

    I heard 

    There was fantastic turnout to the repeater presentation last week showed that there is great engagement and interest. 

    How about lending a hand this weekend - helping to set up and operate.  It's a great opportunity to show off amateur radio to the public, visit with other hams and even take a turn at operating.

    Winter Field Day (WFD) needs the following:

    • Overnight watch - someone to stay on site Saturday evening. Can share this duty with others, must keep site manned.
    • Set up/Take down - 5-7 people to set up antennas, tent and prepare Comms Trailer Saturday morning.  Take down Sunday after noon.
    • OPERATE!! No experience necessary.  Don't be shy-Elmers standing by! 
    • Fire Pit Boss - cool title - bring/coordinate supply of firewood.

    Winter Field Day 2024 is confirmed!  It's at the Edgemont Community Association parking lot in NW Calgary.  Details to follow! 

    Neeroo VE6NRO@gmail.com and Peter VA6RPL@techworld.ca are co-coordinators.

    One thing we really need to have this year is a night watchman to stay with the trailer overnight.  Please contact scheduler Neeroo VE6NRO if you can help with this.
