Hi ARES members (and others)

Calgary Regional ARES needs radio operators for an event coming up, Friday 18 July to Sunday 20 July. The event is called "Tour for Kids Alberta" http://www2.tourforkids.com/alberta/. It is a charity fundraiser for supporting cancer research, but especially to fund a camp where children suffering from cancer can be in the outdoors at no cost to the family.

It is a 3-day bicycle ride from Calgary --> Banff --> Sask. River Crossing --> Rocky Mtn House --> Sundre --> Water Valley --> Calgary.

ARES is responsible for event and safety communications, similar to what we hams do on so many other events. We will not be on bicycles, we will be in our own cars and trucks.

I'm the radio coordinator for this event, and I need radio operators and their vehicles. For some operators, the need is to put their radio into someone else's vehicle. A 50-watt mobile and a good antenna are about the only requirement.

The event will reimburse your fuel costs, and supply all food and accommodations. If you want, you can camp with the cyclists, rather than using the supplied volunteer accommodation.
