Operation Powdermesh is an amateur radio outing in the park (Sibbald and Kananaskis PLUZ).
Not limited to amateur radio operators - the mesh node component does not require amateur radio certification, and individuals interested in this aspect are also welcome.
This is an area where regular public service support happens, it is also an area that is challenging for radio propagation with substantial multipath fading. This is a good opportunity to come test your equipment, and a reason to finish that mobile installation then come test it out.
The most important objective is to get out into the mountains, operate some radios, test some equipment, and have a good day.
In addition to these, there are two areas that we think we can gather some useful information:
1. There is growing interest in 900MHz mesh networking nodes: how well can these work in this area? What does simplex reach look like from selected locations along the road.
2. Coverage of VE6PR repeater. Knowing available alternative channels for operations in the area is useful.
