  • 21 May 2020
  • 20 Jun 2020

VE6RBA received approval for all Canadian hams to use an alternative prefix until 6/20/2020 as part of a COVID-19 Shelter-in-Place event.

CARA will be participating effective immediately. All contacts made using the club station will now identify and log as CG6AO. Logs have been updated. Our CG6AO QRZ page has been updated.

Of course, COVID-19 is nothing to celebrate about. Opinions on lock down measures are also very polarizing. As usual on ham radio, avoid making or soliciting controversial conversation. It is suggested if asked when operating to simply indicate the alternative call sign is being used as part of a Canada wide COVID-19 Shelter-in-Place event and we offer our best wishes to all. There will be no awards during this event. CG6AO QSL cards from 2017 will be repurposed and sent out to those requesting a card.

Being a "Shelter in Place" event all operating will be by club remote. Remote operation is available to advanced qualified members on all modes and bands. All members are welcomed to participate in the event either as a operator or give us a contact if you hear us on air.
If you need to be setup for remote operation contact Rob VE6CCL.
