Radio Amateurs of Canada has generously offered the Calgary Amateur Radio Association the opportunity to participate in their Canada 150 event as an Alberta RAC station from November 3rd until November 17th, 2017.

RAC's Canada 150 event has been very well received. Different RAC call signs are being used by selected clubs and individuals across Canada. Example: VE1RAC is being used in Nova Scotia, VE2RAC is being used in Quebec and so on.  RAC stations submit contacts to a central database. Amateurs around the world can simply enter their callsign on the RAC website to see how many different RAC stations they have confirmed. PDF Certificates are earned as multiple unique contacts are made.

You can find out more and check for your call in the database at:
http://wp.rac.ca/rac150/

Even more fun than contacting RAC stations is to be one. Members of CARA wishing to operate the club equipment as VE6RAC should contact the CARA Station Team. Note until clubhouse remediation work is complete our station equipment will need to be operated remotely. If your not already a remote user, Station Team members would be happy to train and help you configure your PC to join in. Note RIC 3 states an Advanced license is required for remote control of fixed stations.

To summarize, CARA will be operating as VE6RAC until 11/17. Members can participate in RAC's Canada 150 event by contacting us and other RAC stations across the country then checking their progress on RAC's website, or, best of all contact the Station Team about becoming a CARA operator during the event.

73,

CARA Station Team
