Monitoring Space Weather Using VLF Radio Instruments
Speaker: Dr. Chris Cully, Univ. of Calgary Space Physics Research Group The Earth's atmosphere is frequently bombarded by high-energy particles from the Van Allen radiation belts, affecting radio communications and atmospheric chemistry. The University of Calgary runs a project to observe this particle precipitation by monitoring its effect on radio propagation in the VLF band. In this talk The discussion will be about this project, including the science objectives and the technical details of the VLF receivers.
Location: Location: Calgary Sports Car Club 4215 80th Ave, at the corner of 44 St NE.
