It seems like I just finished writing my last President’s Message and here I am doing another one already… Time flies.
There are a couple of things coming up in the next month or so that I want everyone to be aware of. First is our AGM and Elections on Saturday, October 17, 2026. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone out for the occasion! We’re going to start at 10:00 this time around. That will give us all the opportunity for a little face time! It’s a great opportunity for everyone to catch up after a busy summer! Lunch will be provided! Then we will get down to business. There are several items on the agenda for discussion that will require quorum so please come out and show your support for the club!
The second is the Kananaskis Rally which takes place on Sunday, November 8. Please consider coming out and volunteering! No worries if you’re a newbie! Experienced operators are always willing to give a hand to get you up to speed! Information is available in the Calendar or send and e-mail to rallyteam@caraham.org an email if you have any questions!
Please remember that by volunteering for the three rallies that CARA does during the year is how we pay our rent for our club station and the land that it sits on! One day’s effort for 365 days of enjoyment from our world class DX station! Good trade if you ask me!
The recent renovations and changes made to the station provide operators new to the club the opportunity to get into the world of Dxing with zero cost of entry. Starting out with lower powered equipment and the opportunity to work their way up to higher power by just moving over one chair to the right! An exciting opportunity for sure! Stop by and check it out! Find out what has been done and what is yet to come at the AGM!
I will be sending out a somewhat lengthy, but very informative email, detailing who is currently holding what positions in the club, who is retiring, who has already stepped up to help going forward, and most importantly the opportunities available for others!
I will close with a huge shout out and thank you to all of you that have graciously donated your time and energy to help make CARA what it is today. Another shout out to those that are just itching to lend a hand and put their own mark on the club! Give it a try! The rewards are amazing! Remember…. “Many Hams make light work!”
If you have an idea, a thought, a suggestion, or just want to say hi….. ve6kos@caraham will get you there!
Brett Auger, VE6KOS
