Well here we are with a new year and a new President (ME!). I have served CARA in many capacities over the years both on the Executive and as a member. I had no desire to be President but when duty calls what can you do. I will be serving until our next AGM and do my best to keep the wheels rolling or perhaps the radios humming is a better analogy.
We have a local rally coming up in March which is my specialty. I’ve been contacted by a US rally I worked a few times, they are looking for 150 radio operators. Olympus is a huge rally normally but they are celebrating a 40th anniversary of Group B cars and going all out. The rally is a huge task since it’s south of Seattle but I’ve signed up. Anyone interested in a unique rally drop me a line.
Back in our own neck of the woods, we have a number of events to show case our club. Super Train, Outdoor show and Boat show are all planned for 2026. I will work on getting us into the Millarville fair as well There is talk that we may participate in the Maker Faire again. There is of course the swap meet on April 11th. Rocky Mountain Rally is being held at the end of May this year, which is our preferred time. 2026 is going to be a busy year.
With such a diverse club as ours, plus the wide variety of events and projects there is no shortage of places to volunteer. The club is only a great as the members and many hands make light work so I recommend getting out there and volunteer.
