General Meeting/Elections (20 Jun 2026)

The General Meeting on Saturday, June 20th at 1 PM is the final meeting for the summer. The meeting is critical for the club, and all members should attend.

There will be further details in the June Key Klix on the agenda for the June meeting, but the main focus is on our elections. If you wish to have the Calgary Amateur Radio Association thrive as a viable club, for your Special Interest Group to continue on whatever it’s focused on, then the June meeting requires your attendance in order to achieve a quorum to hold our elections.

Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.

WE HAVE AN EXTRA CHALLENGE THIS YEAR

We do not have the use of the COMMUNICATIONS TRAILER

BUT

VE6NQ will be setting up at Conrich AB east of Calgary again this year

we do have lots of other radio equipment and assets available for setting up a portable entry

We will also participate using the Club Station VE6AO at the CSCC as Class D working only Field Day stations.

if we deploy the Generator we can enter as in (Class E) Home stations - Emergency power: Same as Class D, but using emergency power for transmitters and receivers. Class E may work all Field Day stations

Bomber Command Museum of Canada (BCM) Radio Days (03 Aug 2026)

Take part in another of Bomber Command Museum (BCM) of Canada's Radio Days, in Nanton, Alberta! This event, starting at 10 AM, will include a Lancaster engine run-up and other aviation displays.

“The Museum on the Air" group will be demonstrating the Lancaster Radio and DMR and will have other World War II radios on display.

BCM (VA6BCM), has plans to install an antenna so QSOs can be made from the museum.

The objective of the “VA6BCM -Museum on the Air group” is to demonstrate and display Aviation radios used during WWII and display the evolution of the technology.

It would be great to add pre-war radio aviation technology if anyone has any ideas.

If you are interested in participating, let me know.
