    Thanks Harry for your post.

We first contacted the Alberta VIMY event coordinator last December, asking if CARA could help by operating as a VE100VIMY Special Event station. While we have exchanged a few emails, so far, Mitch has not assigned us an operating slot. We are still trying.

Of course, as Rob mentioned, we encourage all members to participate in the event by contacting other VE100VIMY stations either from home or at the club. If access to HF gear or the club location is an issue, we also offer qualified members remote use of our equipment.

Tnx Harry for bringing this to the attention of the club.

It would be good if the club could put something together. I will undertake to promote this inside and outside the club if we make a commitment to participate.

I will get in touch with the Folks at the club station and see what might be possible.

I've received a few emails from the AB/SK radio club mentioning this event and how there has been limited VE6 activity thus far.  I'm not on HF but I know the club has the resources and operators to take this on so here's the info.

In 2017 Canada will commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the World War I Battle of Vimy Ridge which took place April 9–12, 1917. Four Canadian Divisions attacked Vimy Ridge along a 5 mile front. Using innovative strategies, the Canadians were successful in capturing the Ridge where the French and British before them had been unsuccessful. This Battle is recognised as a milestone in Canada’s development as a nation.

The Vimy Commemorative Station Society based in Richmond British Columbia has organised more than three months of Amateur Radio activities in honour of the Battle.

Jan 1–Mar 30, VE100VIMY/n, operating one week from each of Canada’s thirteen call areas by selected club and individual station operators. Commemorating the WWI Battle of Vimy Ridge. Certificate and QSL details at ve100vimy.ca.

April 1–9, VE100VIMY Commemorating the WWI Battle of Vimy Ridge with stations located at the Vimy Memorial site in Vimy, France. Two stations will operate 24/7. Certificate and QSL details at ve100vimy.ca.

Work the portable operation stations, VE100VIMY/n and the VE100VIMY station in France and earn a commemorative certificate and QSL card. More information will be found at www.ve100vimy.ca.
