I think that it's a very valid comment to say that it should be written in the "past tense" rather than remove it.  I have been asked at least two times in the recent past about the "packet network", and therefore people are mistakenly thinking that it still exists.

Do you know if the ATV repeater is still around?

    RE the "Operating" tab "HF/VHF/UHF/Digital/ATV/IRB"

We are always looking for up to date information on projects and activities .

Some of the content on our site was written over 10 years ago and rather than just delete it was left in its original form.  The expectation is that eventually interest in these areas of the hobby would find a new champion or project lead to bring them back to life.

Some of the content should now be written in the past tense.

Like most HAMs , CARA is reluctant to through things out so LAN, PACKET and ATV equipment is still around waiting.  Some could be replaced with newer technology

Either way we need more members to take on the challenge of keeping  old an new projects on track.

On the webpage in the "Operating" tab and upon selecting the "HF/VHF/UHF/Digital/ATV/IRB" link there are two advertised pieces of information that I think are outdated. (Otherwise someone please correct me).

    It states:

" CARA currently operates a terrestrial LAN through southern Alberta, a satellite gateway from Calgary to Allen Park, Ontario and Ottawa , Ontario and a full-time connection to the Internet through SHAW."

    and,

" If you have a question about packet, don't hesitate to contact via packet at the club's address of VE6YYC@VE6YYC.#sab.ab.can.na"

Unless I'm mistaken, all that packet equipment was taken off-line at east 10+ years ago. The only packet equipment is APRS related, therefore this information is misleading and should be removed.

As well can someone clarify if the club is still operating an ATV repeater any more.....I don't know if this is functional and it is currently still advertised as well, quote:

"The ATV section also runs an ATV repeater, VE6RTV, mounted on the CFCN tower in the west end of Calgary. The input frequency is 439.2500 MHz and the output frequency is 910.2500 MHz. The repeater is operating over a reduced coverage area."

Not trying to be nit-picky....just genuinely interested to know if the ATV repeater is still alive....

    Thanks,

    Tino, VE6MB
